video for underground (exhibited in Munich subway)

The installation is based on premises that the subway should be perceived
as a temporary-existing, non-symbolic and transitory interior. We use front
glass of the information booth as an intimate, auto-referential display in
the underground "non-space".
These images refer to the very nature on "non-places"
- the public space has become a place where the subjects do less and less
integrate, leaving them the augmenting space to be alone in it, and to have
their representations and representations of themselves left unnoticed.
This installation means to explore such phenomena.

We started working on idea for this video earlier, because we were always
interested in fragmented stories, confessions, which can be, in a way, connected.
This is cognitive map of sources of human loneliness,
trajectories that connect and separate people. This
invitation for the exhibition in such a strong, site specific place of subway,
which is just a trajectory space (non-space, it is not symbolically marked,
it serves only as a path from A to B) came as a perfect background for the
video.
Underground can also be seen as a place of sub-level, to put it metaphorically,
of moving through sub-conscientious.
