Installation
consists of two projections.
It should be able to run in several modes:
Interactive (it reacts on the people in the room);
Web (governed by inputs from the Internet users
through interconnected Java applets)
Random (artwork content is being played automatically).
Connective agency
The first projection (images in upper row) is a visualization of a "search
engine" or connective agency.
Connective agency is a custom-built program that displays numerous nodes and
symbolic interconnections between them. It sometimes forms a cluster, sometimes
a chaotic flows of lines and connections.
Every node is a strategically important point, serving as a memory bank that
carries pieces of audio and video records, or triggers further digitally organic
events in the cluster. This cluster is randomly searched universe, that opens
its content by investigation of randomly chosen point. This datascape of interconnected
points, is constantly being transformed, depending on the inputs from outside
world: the user or visitor can intervene in the cluster life activity, while
in its turn the cluster activity responds to the one's intervention. Thus,
a continual interaction occurs that generates ever-new results in the space
of the installation. In this sense it is an open system, which looks never
the same - once played, transformation forces are shaping it in unpredictable
manner. The cluster can therefore be understood more as a process instead
of a place. (1)
(1) It is, actually, an example for 'machine' which is assemblage of heterogeneous parts, aggregations which transform forces, articulate and propel their elements, and force them into a continuous state of transformation and becoming. This connective agency is multiplicity without unity, it is criss-crossed by multiple lines of forces, and opens up the virtual network of overlapping meanings.
Designing of interface and program that is able to manipulate network of data is done in C program language with a vast collaboration with programmers. Program engine has been built for the last three months, and it is in completion phase. Constant updating is planned, to versions that should be capable for even more advanced functions.
Video
display
The second projection is closely related and connected
with the first one. If the first screen is "mental map", or "player",
than the other screen is "content" or "material played".
(concept images, lower row)
Audio and video records that are being played vill have myriad of forms, documentary
and fictious: conffesions, documentary recordings, recorded telephone calls,
'fashion' shots; people are the main actors and focus, with ther relations
to each other, and, discretely, to art. Videos will be spoken in Serbian,
with English subtitling. Installation videos are exchangeable.
The programs that
run installation are made for PC. Technical demands for the installation would
be, for the moment: 1 PC with 3D graphic card, 1 PC with video card, 2 video
projectors, sound system, sensoring equipment (made here, for Interactive
version), and an Internet connection (for Web version of project).

Interactive video installation, working title: DEP1
DEP1 is a project by production Radisic/Trkulja
(p.RT), developed in co-operation with programmers.
It is digital_emotional piece, with half-documentaristic/half-fictional bits
of videos and sounds. All those pieces are digitally interconnected through
programmed connective agency, that continuously changes. Agency is
combining and mixing videos and sounds randomly/interactively, making ever-new
results and meanings, like a puzzle.
Keywords:
digital_emotional, connected banks of memory, short documents, random algorithms,
multiplicity, simultaneity, uncertainty, chaos theory, hubs and nodal points,
interaction, the hybrid, ambivalence, space of flows
The possibilities of program engine and experience, which our work offer,
should be, on the whole, intuitive rather than self-reflexive.
The aim is not so much to enable strictly 'meaningful' forms of agency, but
to explore fundamentally the way in which connections, events and experience
are related.
